Qatar’s leadership recognizes the importance of education to achieving the nation’s ambitious goals of becoming a more open, democratic society with a diversified, and vibrant economy. His Highness the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Chairperson for the Supreme Education Council (SEC) underscores Qatar’s commitment to developing a world-class education system that promotes research and fosters critical thinking. This commitment stems off a deep-rooted belief that Qatari workforce is the most precious of all and therefore must be well qualified to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Further more, it shows the country’s commitment to establish knowledge based society and honor the value of education and learning. And as His Highness once stated: “Education is the top priority of the State and the state has devoted huge funds to invest in the education sector and formed the Supreme Education Council to develop the education system and meet the requirements of the society in terms of material and qualified man power. All this was accomplished as per the wise vision of His Highness the Prince of Qatar.

The celebration of Education Excellence Day aims to promote the culture of excellence and scientific distinction that will lead to upgrading the education outputs and supply the economic sector with qualified manpower to lead it. It will also encourage academic institutions to develop their performance.
