The overwhelming response at the First National Student Research Fair denotes Qatar’s commitment of creating a future generation of scientific researchers who have acquired investigative, innovative, critical thinking and problem solving skills. More than 300 enthusiastic students from 29 preparatory and secondary explained their respective research topics, methodologies and analysis to curious visitors who included the HE Sadd Ibrahim Al-Mahmoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council (SEC), SEC institute directors, educators and media.
Top awards went to Amna bint Wahab Secondary Independent School for Girls for their research project entitled “A creative state.” The preparatory level of Amna bint Wahab also received prizes for the projects entitled ‘Weaknesses in Arabic language and solutions’, ‘Physical education and its relation to academic achievements’, ‘Soft drinks and their adverse effects on students’. Other awardees included Doha Independent Secondary School for Boys and Ruqayya Independent Preparatory School for girls
Weill Cornell Medical College and Texas A & M University from the Education City also had booths. Qatar Scientific Club officials briefed the visitors of their recent activities.
