Addressing the 36th session of the Shura Council at the White Palace, His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday outlined his vision for the comprehensive development of the State of Qatar.
The Emir spoke on several issues including inflation, real state, regulation of the economy, upgrading the infrastructure, and human resources. Focusing on education as the main pillar for developing the country, His Highness said, "We are working in the direction of diversifying the opportunities of basic education and focusing on its quality, and expanding applied and technological education, upgrading university education with special attention in this area of establishing partnerships with higher education institutions in developed countries, while preserving the national identity and cultural basic principles. We also pay great attention to scientific research in our Endeavour to make Qatar a knowledge-producing country and not merely consuming it, by giving attention of establishing distinctive research centers, strengthening co-operation with scientific research centers in the world and establishing the national fund for supporting researches and financing them on the basis of competitive standards that encourage innovation and creativity".
