Qatar has won four new prizes in the Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Education Excellence for the seventh consecutive year. The results were announced on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Qatar has won on the three categories: the excellent teacher, the excellent student, and the excellent school performance.

Lulwa Khalaf Al-Kaabi from Al-Shayma Secondary School for Girls received the excellent teacher award while Fatima Abdulla Al-Bishi from Al-Shayma Secondary School for Girls and Abdullah Yousif Murad from Omar Bin Al-Khattab Secondary School received the award for the best students. Al Resala Independent Secondary School for Girls has been awarded as the best school.

The names of awardees were announced in Jeddah coinciding with the 69th Arab Bureau for Gulf States meeting with the participation of Gulf education ministers.

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award aims to highlight the importance of education and its role in developing societies. It also encourages innovation and excellence in all the educational fields and rewards those who excel in their education.

The State of Qatar has cultivated 16 excellence awards in the last six years including six for the students, 6 for the teachers, and four for the school.
