The Education Institute of the Supreme Education Council announced that it would continue receiving applications for school tuition and other fees increment for the academic year 2010/2011 until March 31, 2010. According to a memo sent out by the Education Institute, all the owners and principals of private kindergartens and schools must complete a form available at www.english.education.gov.qa requesting fee hike but must submit justification and reasons. The schools are also required to provide the Private Schools Office (PSO) with all tuition and other fees that the school has been charging in the past three years and the proposed fee for the next academic year 2010/2011.

The memo further states that increase of fee will not be effective unless a written approval is obtained from the SEC. The SEC has the right to take all legal and administrative measures or revoke a license from any owner or principal that violates the rules.

The Emiri resolution # 14 for 2009 mandates the reorganization and stipulates the roles and responsibilities of the SEC. Article 22 of law # 7 of 1980 stipulates that the administration of all private schools and kindergartens must refer to the SEC.
