Environment Online (ENO) Programme invites schools, children and youth groups to plant trees - for biodiversity and sustainable future. ENO Tree Planting Day will take place globally in 150 countries on May 21, 2010, the same day ENO will celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity and the Year of Biodiversity 2010.
On its website it says, "let's reflect on our achievements to safeguard biodiversity and focus on the urgency of our challenges in the future. It is time to act. We will do our part and plant trees." The first trees will be planted at noon in Oceania followed by Asia, Europe and Africa. Finally this chain of trees will reach the Americas. The Earth turns on its axis and new trees will have found their homes. Registration can be done online before May 1, 2010. Each participating school or youth group will receive a certificate. Please find instructions, more information and material (play, songs etc) for the day on the web. Environment Online - ENO is a global virtual school and network for sustainable development. Schools around the world study the same environmental topics, do concrete deeds for the environment and share their learning results in their local communities and worldwide on the web. About 5 000 schools in 150 countries are taking part in these activities. The ENO Programme started 10 years ago and its headquarters is in Finland. Click here For more information. |
