The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has withdrawn the licenses of four independent school operators for failure to achieve satisfactory student performance results as per the agreement signed between both parties.

The SEC’s Education Institute oversees and provides support services to independent schools while the Evaluation Institute develops and conducts testing of students, monitors student learning and evaluates school performance. Both the institutes have been monitoring and following up the schools closely to ensure improvement in their performance.

The SEC has provided adequate support to these schools over the year but they still ave not achieved the standards set by the SEC. The schools have been evaluated for over three years and at least three of the schools have received more than one warning which they did not heed to.

This confirms the SEC’s commitment to take the necessary action to ensure the students receive the highest quality standards in academic achievement and the goals of the Education for a New Era initiative are fulfilled.
