Assistant director of Education Institute, Khalid Al-Harqan confirmed during a TV interview that independent schools are in need of the experience of all the Qatari educational experts in the teaching force. Following are the details of his interview.

The Supreme Education Council is keen to provide all the training and professional development opportunities to develop and enhance teachers’ skills and abilities for work in the independent schools. Reference was made to the partnership agreement between the SEC and Qatar University to train and prepare more teachers for work at the schools.

He mentioned the benefits the teachers are currently enjoying like better salaries and allowances. He also mentioned that obtaining professional licenses allows teachers to receive increments in salaries and promotions adding that HE the Minister is following up on the reaction to the benefits and is keen to offer them to encourage graduates to join teaching profession.

Mr. Al Harqan discussed and answered many queries from the public during the interview including the recent death of the nursery child Sara. He assured that a committee had been formed to look into the case and severe penalties will be handed down to the violating school.

About the registration procedures adopted in the SEC, he said that it had been programmed according to the geographic location of the school and the students’ residences. He pointed out that the SEC has provided a new program that highlights the nearest school to their homes through the electricity number. The program is located on the SEC website.

Al-Harqan urged parents to follow up on their children’s learning and be an important partner in the development of education through inquiries about their children’s performance. He lauded the parental partnership and considered it an important element for the development of K-12 education.

Concerning the increase of school fees he said strict restrictions had been applied to schools to monitor fees and parents are requested to report to the SEC’s Private Schools Office in case of violation.
