Welcome to Qatar International College Fair
Dear Students,
Your high school years are the building blocks to your future. The grades you earn, the activities in which you are involved, and your university planning all will have a great impact on being accepted to the college of your choice!

To help you reach that goal, the Higher Education Institute (HEI) invites you to the Qatar International College Fair (QICF) being held at the Four Seasons Hotel from February 27 – 28, 2008. Representatives from over sixty universities on the HEI list of universities from Australia United Kingdom, United States, and Qatar will be at hand to answer all your queries.

With representatives from universities, college entrance exam boards and other educational institutions all under one roof, the QICF offers you the opportunity to go beyond the general information found on the university websites and college guides by allowing you to have one-on-one discussions with admissions officers and ask questions that are unique to your interests and situation.

Floor Plan

The Fair will be open to all high school students for two days – February 27 and 28, 2008 from 9:00am to 1:00pm and from 4:00pm to 9:00pm each day.

In addition to the exhibition of universities and educational institutions, the fair will include presentations about application processes and admission requirements, required tests, student’s visa and HEI scholarship programs. These sessions give you the opportunity to ask questions about the college planning and the admission process.

Practical Tips for Attending QICF
Dear Student,
Attending QICF could be a new experience to you. To avoid being overwhelmed with the big number of universities attending the fair and to use your time effectively we prepared the following tips for you:

  • Visit http://www.english.education.gov.qa/content/resources/detail/5888 to know the participating universities.
  • Determine your criteria for university selection (location, program of study, college size, students’ body, extracurricular activities etc…).
  • Visit the university website.
  • Identify the universities that meet your criteria for selection.
  • Prepare a list of questions that you will ask university representatives during the fair such as the followings:
    • What are the admission requirements?
    • What are the different programs of study available?
    • What is the university size?
    • What is the application deadline?
    • What is the required test (IBT TOEFL®, IELTS and or SAT or ACT) score?
    • What qualities are you looking for in new students?
    • What is the percentage of international students that are accepted each year?
    • When does a student need to declare a major?
    • What is unique about your university?
    • What kind of student residence is available?
    • What is life like on campus?
    • What activities and clubs exist?
  • Prioritize your list to make sure you get answers to your most important questions.
  • Check out the floor plan of the fair to see where the university representatives you are interested in are located.
  • Check the program of events to know the timing of the presentations and fit them into your schedule.
  • Visit first the universities that meet your criteria and then if you have enough time make a general tour to the other universities. You never know, you might discover a university that was not on your initial list!
  • Be active at the fair: pick up brochures, talk to university representatives and try to find answers to the questions you prepared beforehand.
  • Take notes while talking to a university representative and before moving to the next booth.
  • Write down the contact information of the university representative that you plan to talk to or ask for a business card.
  • Send a thank you note to all the representatives you talk to.
  • Read the university catalogues you have collected from the fair and follow-up with any college that interests you by contacting the admissions office via e-mails to ask further questions.
