Sixty universities and educational institutions from the United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia and Qatar will participate in the first Qatar International College Fair to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel from February 26 – 28, 2008. Speaking at a press conference today, Mr. Mohamed Saleh Al Mannai, the Acting Director of Higher Education Institute (HEI) said that the fair would provide excellent opportunities for high school seniors, graduates and prospective students to gain first hand knowledge about admission requirements, application processes, and required tests from universities on the HEI scholarship list.

“The fair allows the students to meet face to face with representatives from the various universities, educational institutions and international college entrance exams and learn more about the programs, procedures, visa issuance, living abroad and many other questions that students may have,” said Al Mannai. “The fair comes in the framework of our educational policy of promoting opportunities for excellence.”

The objective of the fair is to create an appropriate environment for students to obtain scholarships corresponding to their academic abilities, ambitions and desires. This will also help students to acquire scholarships linked to more immediate labor needs, therefore assisting Qatar overcome skill shortages.

The fair will include also include lectures provided by representatives from the universities and international college entrance exams such as SAT, ACT, IBT TOEFL ad IELTS. Embassy officials as well as American, Australian & British Advising Centers in Qatar will also be present to answer any questions prospective students may have.
