Type: News Articles Date: 5 May 2008 Students from several secondary schools hoping to apply to universities here and abroad visited the "Open House," which is aimed at providing students with information on the different scholarship programs, the list of universities approved by the Higher Education Institute and career guidance. Organized by the Higher Education Institute, the event began on May 4 and will continue until May 5 at Al Merqab Hall of the Four Seasons Hotel. Among the attendees were the Acting director of the HEI, Mr. Mohammed Al Mannai, Ms. Hessa Al Aali, Fawziya Al Naama, and all the scholarship programs officers. Hundreds of students and their parents visited the pavilions either individually or in groups to receive information on the different scholarship programs - Emiri, National, Diploma, Employee and Pre-College Grant programs. “Scoring 80% on the GCSE or equivalent is no longer the only requirement for acceptance to receive scholarships any more. Once a student receives unconditional acceptance from the university on our list, they are automatically entitled to a scholarship,” said Al Mannai. Mrs. Fawziya Al Neema, Director of Advising Career Development Center points out that the open meeting aims to ensure that students who wish to apply for scholarships have all their documentation in order as soon as the Secondary Certificate results are announced. It also aims at acquainting eleventh graders with Higher education scholarship programs and how to apply to the listed universities once they finish their final year. She added that students will be acquainted with the HEI scholarship programs and study courses at the Education City universities, in addition to study in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
