In line with the continuous follow-up and monitoring to help overcome registration issues in the Independent schools, the SEC’s Education Institute identified as of June 11, 2008, that there are 1138 vacant seats for students to enroll at all educational stages.
This year, the Education Institute sent a circular containing all the new rules in the registration policy to all schools. The reviewed policy issued in April 2006 is based on the anticipation of increase in number of students interested to register at the Independent schools Education Institute director and officials met with the Operators of Cohort V Independent schools to explain the registration rules and acceptance in the schools. A form detailing the registration commencement dates was also prepared to help monitor the process and control it. Education Institute officials conducted field visits to ensure that all the schools complied by the rules and regulations. Any schools that breached the rules received warning letter. In a recent announcement on Qatar Television, the Education Institute director, Sabah Al-Haidoos advised parents against the risk of placing their children in waiting lists, as this does not guarantee placement. In her TV interview, Al-Haidoos said that Qatar’s education initiative “Education for a New Era” has since its initial launch had the objective to gradually convert all Ministry into Independent schools. Students would be enrolled according to the number of schools that have been transformed and this process is expected to be complete by 2011 – 2012. |
