The Evaluation Institute announced in a press conference held on Monday, June 23, 2008, the results of 2008 Qatar Senior School Certificate (QSSC), which saw girls taking the top spots. The QSSC exits examinations test students’ abilities in mathematics, science, English and Arabic, and are based on Qatar’s National Curriculum Standards set by the Supreme Education Council.

This year, about 1374 twelfth grade students from eight (4 boys and 4 girls) Independent schools across the country sat for the exam conducted by the Supreme Education Council. This is the second time Qatar is conducting the QSSC as part of its education reform. The QSSC combines scores based on the student’s school-based assessments and a series of external tests overseen by the SEC.
