An authorized source in the Supreme Education Council (SEC) said that the different Education Excellence Day Awards committees representing the various Education Excellence categories began sorting and selecting nominees for the Education Excellence Awards. The awards recognize outstanding achievement different categories including High school graduates; Teachers; Schools; Research project by high school students; University graduates and Ph.D. holders.
Each committee named after a respective category will select its candidates according to specific criteria set by the Education Excellence Day (EED) board. The final list of winners will be submitted to HE Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the EED Board of Trustees Board, Minister of Education and Secretary General of the SEC on Sunday, October 25, 2009 for final approval.
Held annually under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Education Excellence Day Awards ceremony recognizes the high achievements of Qatari students, teachers, schools and researchers in the State of Qatar and publicly celebrates their accomplishments.
The EED gold and platinum awards honor the best and brightest and celebrate the success of Qataris who show academic excellence; promote and encourage excellence among all people and organizations; support positive initiatives in knowledge and scientific research and; encourage innovation amongst students, researchers and educational organizations.
This year, many students, teachers, PhD holders, and schools submitted applications to take part in the competition of EED. Very competent committees comprising highly qualified educators and experts will carefully review the applications to ensure the right candidates are chosen.
Winners will be awarded on November 11, 2009 under the auspices of HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent. Many high-ranking officials, academic scholars, journalists and educators will attend the event.
