Type: Press Release Date: 25 October 2009 One of the most exciting announcements all year came one step closer today, as the evaluating committees of the Education Excellence Day (EED) awards submitted the list of winners for approval by HE Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the EED Board of Trustees Board, Minister of Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council. Once approved, the list will be sent to the Office of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The EED winners will be awarded at a ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha on November 11. "Education Excellence Day is one of the most exciting events of the year," said HE Al Mahmoud. "These awards are a way to recognize outstanding work and allow us to identify the best strategies for bringing out the best in all of our students and teachers. We are proud to highlight the incredible work done by this group of talented teachers, students and PhD holders. They serve as a shining example of what can be accomplished through hard work and a commitment to excellence." The EED awards, held annually under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, recognize outstanding achievement from nominees in six categories: high school graduates, teachers, schools, research projects, university graduates and PhD holders. Separate committees are assembled to judge the nominees and determine winners in each category based on a universal set of criteria developed by the EED board. The awards are intended to:
