Social sciences constitute an important field of basic education as they contribute a great deal to an individual's social nature, their potential for multiple development of the capacity to solve problems and critical thinking. Social sciences also develop an individual's awareness of his/her social role and rights as well awareness of what is happening in the community and the world at large whether it is political, economical or cultural.

Social sciences provide opportunities to learn more effectively through different teaching methods, particularly methods which allow freedom for the teacher and the learner. Hence, the social science standards are here to help teachers and students to turn education into practical experience.

Most school operators assured that the Social sciences standards, which were implemented this academic year for the first time, are essential and schools only need time to improve its learning.
