200 students attend Al Fakhoora Int’l Conference


At least 200 students from around the world are taking part in a two day Al Fakhoora Campaign International Students Conference which was launched at the Marriott Hotel on Saturday, January 16, 2010. Students from Qatar, Palestine, Egypt, UAE, the UK and USA are participating in the conference entitled “Post Cast Lead: Defending the Freedom to Learn” which focuses on the challenges and right to education in Gaza and the West Bank.

HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser al Missned - Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and UNESCO Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education – on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, delivered a rousing plea at UNESCO for the right of children everywhere to benefit from quality basic education. Addressing the 35th session of UNESCO’s General Conference, the Organization’s highest governing body, Sheikha Mozah declared that "depriving children of the right to education is depriving them of the right to live."
