The SEC and QCB to establish School of Commerce


Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) HE Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud and Qatar Central Bank (QCB) Governor HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani today signed an operating agreement to establish an Independent School of Commerce. The School will provide business and financial sector training as part of an educational curriculum that is dedicated to grooming candidates to take on purposeful roles in the country’s financial sector.

Education Minister inaugurates Open House

HE Mr. Saad Bin Ibrahim Al-Mahmoud, Minister of Education today inaugurated the Annual Open House at the Four seasons Hotel today, June 14, 2010. The open house targets Qatari high school students in grades 10, 11 and 12 in all secondary schools who wish to learn more about application processes, scholarship programs and courses on offer in other universities in Qatar and abroad.

Orientation and placement tests for CCQ to start on June 21

The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has announced that the orientation and placement ACT COMPASS tests for enrollment to the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) will take place from June 21 to July 5, 2010. Testing will take place at the Foundation Program (Men and Women) Buildings at Qatar University. Applicants are required to present their Qatar ID and pay the test fee (QR 150) five days prior to the testing date.

As part of its plans to qualify and train Qatari nationals to join the teaching profession, the Supreme Education Council has announced the commencement of registration for Secondary and Primary School Education Diploma programs conducted in collaboration with Qatar University.

Over 3800 students sit for the exit test

At least 3823 secondary schools students began the Qatar Senior School Certificate exams on Thursday, May 27, 2010 in all independent schools. 2169 boys and 1654 girls from 11 boys and 8 girls schools are participating in the QSSC tests which will continue until June 8, 2010. Five of the nineteen schools will be administering the exams for the first time.

The Community College of Qatar in service agreement with Houston Community College


HE Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) and Dr. Mary Spangler, Chancellor, Houston Community College (HCC), Houston, Texas, USA today, Monday, May 17, 2010, signed a service partnership agreement that will see Houston Community College develop and institute a fully operational Community College of Qatar (CCQ) by September 2010.
