New admissions policy to ease registration process
The Education Institute Assistant Director, Khalid Al-Harqan has issued a circular to all independent schools' operators specifying the admissions policy in the different key stage levels in the independent schools. This move is aligned to the Supreme Education Council’s efforts to regulate the admissions and registration in schools.

The Supreme Education Council announced the names of operators for the Cohort VII independent schools, thus concluding the final stage in the education development process - Education for A New Era - initiated by the State of Qatar’s in 2002. There are currently 102 schools operating independently. This number will reach 167 with the final addition of 65 schools from cohort VII.

The Supreme Education Council’s Shared Services Directorate held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 a meeting with leaders of independent schools at Al Sharq Hotel to discuss matters related to staffing in schools. Attending the meeting was Mr. Tariq Al-Abdulla, Director of Shared Services, Mr. Eissa El Hor, the Human Resources Manager and Mr. Jassim Al Muftah, the head of recruitment, in addition to independent schools' operators.

The Supreme Education Council (SEC) in collaboration with Qatar University (QU) has announced a number of opportunities and programs for the rehabilitation and employment of teachers including three programs - Primary, Secondary and Special Education Diplomas. This move is part of the SEC’s strategy to provide training opportunities, professional development and ultimately employment to Qataris and encourage and attract them to join the teaching profession.
