Educational Plan
It is our vision to have a caring and welcoming environment in which all girls are happy and confident striving to achieve their full potential in all subjects. We are committed to understanding our students as active learners, building on what they know and moving them creatively towards new learning. We are committed to the adoption of a broad and differentiated curriculum that promotes the intellectual, spiritual, aesthetic and physical development of our students so that they are prepared for their next stage of education. Our staff will recognize the value and contribution of all people in the school community and promotes a positive relationship between themselves, parents, administrator and the community at large.

School Mission
Al Wakra Preparatory School is a full time Independent School for girls aged 11 to 14 years. We are committed to the following:

  • Preparing girls for the future as self-directed life-long learners by encouraging high academic standards across a progressive curriculum that enables all girls to achieve their potential in all subjects.
  • Use state-of-the-art technology and innovative teaching strategies in an environment where individual learning styles are nurtured and encouraged.
  • Teaching Arabic, English, mathematics and science according to the National Curriculum Standards developed by the Education Institute.
  • Our students will participate in the National Comprehensive Assessment Tests set by the Evaluation Institute and our teachers will do everything to prepare them for these tests. Our predicted targets will be based on the diagnostic tests we intend to carry out at the start of the academic year.
  • Assist students in identifying the fundamental academic and social skills necessary for their success.
  • Promoting self-confidence in every child by respecting their individuality and providing a safe and loving family environment in which co-operation, tolerance and friendship are encouraged.
  • Provision of a variety of extra-curricular activities to enable students to develop leadership and teamwork skills outside the classroom.
  • Assisting girls with special educational needs so that they have a meaningful learning experience.
  • Ensure that students witness quality, equity and justice in the school environment through the adoption of clear policies in terms of all matters related to teaching and learning and discipline.
  • The teaching of Religious Education and Islamic history throughout the school so that girls take pride in their identity and at the same time recognize the value of other religions and the dignity of all people in the world.
  • Continuous improvement of our operation and evaluation of our academic programs.
  • Promotion of a positive interaction between the school, Principal/Operators, parents and the community at large through pre-defined strategies.

School Facility: The school will consist of 25 classes. Each class will have a maximum of 25 girls. The school capacity is 625 students

Gender and Grades: Our school will serve students in grade 7,8, and 9 and it will be for girls only.

Admission Standards and Selection Criteria
The school will follow SEC policy in full. The registration process starts on the 1st of May of every academic year. The conditions for admission are as follows:

1) The school will adopt an open admission policy in which preference would be given to Qatari students residents of Al Wakra.

2) The student must furnish the school with a certificate of completion of the previous academic year.

3) Students are expected to fill in an application form and take a diagnostic test in English, The objective of this test is to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses so that proper teaching strategies and educational resources can be selected later on.

Required Documents:
1) A valid passport with the ID number.
2) A Copy of the Birth Certificates.
3) A valid residency with the ID number for non-Qatari Parent/Guardian.
4) A letter that confirms the place of work for non-Qatari Parent/Guardian.
5) Certificate of completion of the previous year from the school attended by the student.

Adverts in national newspapers will be placed to inform the general public on the timing, procedure and required documents for admission at our school. Places will be offered on the basis of priority list as it is given in the SEC student admission policy. Once a class has reached its capacity, a waiting list will be drawn up and parents will be contacted when places become available depending on their position on the above list.

Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Education specializing in Humanities from Qatar University (1985). Mrs. Sharbak has 20 years experience in the education field as a humanities teacher, a vice and principal. She has attended a lot of seminars, workshops and training courses within and outside Qatar such as the International Conference on Educational Technology (BETT) in London
