Organizations that support research

Qatar is very keen on integrating research in education and this is especially apparent as His Highness the Heir Apparent Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani announced devoting 8.2 per cent of the national income to support scientific research and development. Qatar becomes the only country to allocate more than 1.8 per cent of its income to scientific research ranking it fifth globally, beating other developed countries like the United States and France.

The development of the research skills initiative, sponsored by the Supreme Education Council, is an example of this trend. It aimed to develop the research skills among students as well as teachers. In the past years there were many International and Local Corporations aimed to develop those skills. Following are some examples:

World Virtual Science and Engineering Fair - The College of the North Atlantic The world virtual science and engineering fair is the biggest virtual fair in the world , it is opened for the students from high schools and colleges . students from every where can participate in this virtual fair.
Students are invited to present course or program related projects as well projects deemed for science fairs.  For example, course or program related projects in engineering, health science and information technology are welcome.
The project can be new or one that the student has already entered in another science fair.

Gas Processing Center K-12 Contest - Gasna
The K-12 Award category is a national initiative that aims at increasing society’s awareness about the country’s abundant and valuable natural resources. With children at the base of this society, the GPC created a national competition, which will help the children of Qatar to take ownership of Qatar’s future. Therefore, the GPC is proud to declare “Gasna” competition as the national event in which all national, independent, and international schools within the State of Qatar are encouraged to participate.

Qatar Scientific Club
Founded on 07/09/1987. The club is committed to promote interest, learning and creativity in the Science and Technology fields, to play a significant role in developing the skills, knowledge and the development of Human Resources at Qatar. The club aimed to discover and solidify talents and promote the creativity in Science and Technology and availability of the activities and the necessary scientific and training programs to choose the most suitable new technologies.

International Education & Information Resources Network Organization (iEARN)
It is a non- profit organization to promote the educational projects and International cooperation between students and teachers in more than 120 countries. Reach Out To Asia organization, is the sponsor for International Education and Resources Network Organization in Qatar. Five Independent Schools will participate soon in research projects in collaboration with this organization for opportunities to all the schools in Qatar to participate in the coming few years.

What Kids Can Do Organization
It is a US non- profit organization founded on 2001 and aims at learning children at the age of a
dolescence and provide them with the tools they need to investigate about important issues about their environment. They expanded in 2006 to include research students form around the globe. Their website contains examples of other students research.

Children's Research Centre
 In collaboration with the Open University in United Kingdom, the Children's Research Centre is working on preparing and enabling children to conduct methods or investigation about important issues. Dr. Mary Killet, Director of the Centre, is a visiting professor and a consultant at Education Institute for the Development of Scientific Research Skills Project.

There are plans to add a section at the website to celebrate Qatar students research.

Young Researcher Corporation
An International Organization concerned with giving young children chances to be efficient in their communities by helping them in conducting research related to their daily life and about the impact of the sociological factors on them.

Sound Out
This organization works with middle and high school students to conducts valuable researches and offer training courses for teachers and students.
