Biology Club Doing Important Research
A group of 16 young researchers at
Omar Bin Al-Khattab
Secondary School are giving us a better understanding of the
native plant growth of Qatar. Led by biology teachers Firas
Corri and Fathi Al Sa’d, and biology professor Dr. Renee
Richer from Weill Cornell Medical College, these young men
took an expedition to Ras Laffan Industrial City in northern
Qatar in May to document and the number and varieties of
native plants in the region. They plan to return on future
visits to monitor changes in vegetation.

Palestinian girl participates International Conference for
Young Researchers
Nadira Sofan, a Palestinian girl from Nablus participated in
an international conference for young researchers, which was
held in France. Her research was based on the resources and
quality of water in Nablus city. She collected samples of
water from different areas in Nablus and used various
equipments to examine the physical and chemical factors to
decide the quality of the water.
Nadira participated
in the young researchers program, which is sponsored by Al Nayzak
Foundation for Extracurricular Education.

Fifteen-year-old Pakistani boy invents engine run by
compressed air
Marouf
Afouzy recently drew the attention of international media with
his invention of a modified engine that is run by compressed
air rather than petrol. Marouf showcased his creation, which
won the first prize at a talent festival organized by an
institute in Samarqand.
This unique
invention helps reduce pollution and is the cheaper on the
pocket and efficient as it re-“fuels” from the natural air. It
was no surprise when German Industry Giants sent a delegate to Marouf Afouzy to obtain the copyright.
