Starting a School

Parents, teachers, principals, businesses and others interested in developing high quality educational options for students can apply to open an Independent School.  The application requires submission of an education plan for students, a start-up budget, a three-year operating budget projection with accompanying budget narrative, enrollment projections, a staffing plan and a financial management plan. Assistance is available from the Independent Schools Office in developing these documents.

Interested parties are also required to form a legal entity in order to be able to operate an Independent School. Once in operation, Independent Schools will be required to submit to an annual financial audit by an independent audit firm hired by the Independent Schools Office.  The Schools will also be required to submit periodic financial statements and reports.
