In a technological world packed with billions of web pages, keeping up to date with the information you want can be a bore. Rather than click from site to site, wouldn't it be better to have the latest news, upcoming movies, DVD releases and features delivered directly to you? Thanks to a very clever service, – RSS - now you need not go out and check for updates all the time! RSS simply stands for 'Really Simple Syndication,' a fancy way of saying that you can stay updated by having all your favorite parts of the web delivered directly to you.
How to get started on RSS feeds? The first thing you need is a news reader. There are many different versions. Some are accessed using a browser, and some are downloadable applications. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want. Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is decide what content you want. For example, if you would like the latest Supreme Education Council News stories, simply visit the Blog section and you will notice an orange RSS button on the left hand side. If you would like the latest SEC News stories, visit the SEC Web site and click on the RSS button on the left side of the page, below the Spotlight article. If you click on the button you can subscribe to the feed in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.
A variety of news readers are available and new versions are appearing all the time. Bear in mind that different news readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to take this into account when you make your choice.
