Dr. Hammami is the Director of UNESCO Doha Office. His experience in the education field spans over 20 years. He has been involved in curricular reform efforts in many Arab states of the Gulf. He started his career in 1982 as an English language teacher for elementary and secondary levels and later appointed acting headmaster of the secondary school. In 1994, Dr. Hammami was appointed technical officer at the office of the Minister for Education in Oman, and later promoted to Director of Technical Office of Studies and Development in the same office. He then became the Director General of Curricular and Training at the Ministry of Education (1999) in Oman. His professional involvement in education has earned him senior membership to prominent committees including, but not limited to, the Supreme Committee for General Education Reform (Oman), Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Curricular Reform, Examination and Training (Oman) and Member of the Committee for Evaluation of Academic Accreditation in the Ministry of Higher Education (Oman). Dr. Hammami is an active speaker and lecturer, and has presented papers on various topics in the education field in a number of seminars, conferences, symposiums and workshops around the world. Dr. Hammami obtained his Bachelors degree in Education majoring in English Language and Educational Psychology from the University of Denver, USA (1988). He then proceeded to attain a Masters degree in Education from Ohio State University, USA (1994). In 1999, Dr. Hammami received Ph. D in Educational Policies and Management from the University of Birmingham, UK. |
