DR. YASIR SULEIMAN

Dr Yasir Suleiman is Professor of Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies and Director of the Centre for the Study of the Arab World and Islam at the University of Edinburgh. An internationally leading scholar on Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, Professor Suleiman is author of several books and has given lectures on language policy and development around the world.

Professor Suleiman has been active in curriculum development and training for Arabic as a Foreign Language in the United Kingdom and has worked as a certified tester on the subject. He has led many accreditation committees in ministries of higher education in the Arab World. In Qatar, he was Team Leader for Arabic in the Curriculum Standards Project, the Arabic lead teacher trainer for the Independent Schools and Leader of the Schemes of Work Project for Arabic.

He is a regular contributor to the press and media in the United Kingdom and has worked as language consultant on international disputes.
