Islamic studies is a compulsory subject in all Independent Schools. By contract, school Operators are required to adopt the Ministry of Education national document on Islamic curricula.
“We have studied the Islamic curricula already in use at the MoE and find it employs a moderate approach to teaching religious values and principles. “We decided not to repeat the great work done by the Ministry. In the future, the Ministry will filter and improve this document and once it is done we will alert the Independent Schools to adopt the modified version.” said Dr. Mohammed Al Ansari, Director of the Curriculum Standards Office.
