The Independent School Office (ISO) mission is to provide guidance and support to Independent Schools and their operators. In carrying out its mission, the Independent School Office (ISO) is reponsible for five key tasks. They include:

1. Establishing and updating Independent School guidelines.
2. Recruiting Independent School Operators.
3. Evaluating Independent School applications and presenting recommendations to the Supreme Education Council.
4. Providing support and advice to Independent School operators.
5. Monitoring and enforcing Independent School guidelines.

In support of the above identified key tasks, the Independent School Office (ISO) ensures that all Independent Schools abide by the terms of their contracts. To this end, each school is subjected to compliance assessment reviews on a regular basis. In conjunction with other divisional staff, the Independent School Office is responsible for visiting and observing schools and maintaining an Information Center that review complaints made by all stakeholders. That includes, students, parents, teachers and the general public. Should a problem arise at any time during the duration of the contract, the Education Institute has the authority to intervene. Each Independent School’s contract will be reviewed in the third year of the school’s operation. Renewal will occur only after a comprehensive review. "
